About Me
Hello there, I’m Colette and I live in Buckinghamshire with my three teenage sons and I am an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). Initially my experience breastfeeding my boys was far from what I had imagined. Something that I had assumed would be instinctive felt anything but and I found myself being given so much conflicting advice and my challenges left me feeling exhausted and overwhelmed. Later I learned that I was far from alone in my experience of struggling in the early days with breastfeeding. Research shows that 80% of mothers stop breastfeeding before they want to. Despite my initial difficulties, I somehow managed to achieve my personal breastfeeding goals with all three of my boys, however, my experience ignited something within me to want to support other mothers who may be experiencing the same difficulties as I had.
When my middle son was 12 months old I trained as an Antenatal Teacher and subsequently as a Breastfeeding Counsellor which launched my career in supporting new mothers. Fifteen years on I now have the pleasure of running my own private lactation consultancy covering Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Oxfordshire (as well as online options nationally) whilst continuing in my role working for the National Childbirth Trust as both an Antenatal Teacher and Breastfeeding Counsellor.
